Savandurga was a prominent place during the Hoysala rule and later became a fortress during the Kempegowda era, where used it for his defense from the enemies. It was conquered by Hyder Ali in the 18th century.

History Etched in Stone: More than just a natural landmark, Savandurga is layered with history. Imagine the clash of swords and the strategic outlooks from its fort walls, built and controlled by various rulers over centuries.
Spiritual Sanctuary: Nestled near the hill’s base are the Sri Savandi Veerabhadraswamy Temple and Sri Lakshmi Narasimhaswamy Temple. These structures, dating back to the Hoysala period, offer a glimpse into the spiritual significance of the area.
Diverse Wildlife: The Savandurga region teems with life. Keep watch for the flash of yellow as the Yellow-throated Bulbul darts through the trees. Scan the treetops for monkeys and listen for the distinctive calls of diverse bird species. With luck, you may even spot the elusive sloth bear!
Buses: Available from KR Market to Savandurga or reach Magadi and take a bus to Ramanagaram, alight at Nayakanapalya gate, take an auto from here to Savandurga village.
Selfdrive: A scenic drive from Bengaluru via Magadi road or via Ramanagaram
Taxi: You can hire private taxi / chartered van or bus from Bengaluru
60kms from Vidhana Soudha, (2hrs drive approx)
Booking: Trekking at Savandurga requires online registration on the Karnataka Eco Tourism website. A maximum of 100 people are allowed per slot, and a fee is applicable.
