Climbing Mount Aconcagua demands unwavering resolve and meticulous preparation. While non-technical in nature, the sheer altitude, fierce winds, and rugged terrain present formidable challenges unlike any other. To ensure a safe and successful climb, aspiring adventurers must meet the following prerequisites:

  • Physical Fitness: Exceptional physical fitness is imperative. Rigorous, mountaineering-specific training spanning 8-12 months is essential. Climbers must comfortably trek 6-8 hours a day with a 10-15 kg backpack.

  • Mountaineering Experience: Prior experience in high-altitude trekking/climbing (3000m-5000m) is mandatory. Climbers should be adept in layering, acclimatization, camp life, and enduring alpine environments for 3-4 weeks.

Day 01 Arrive in Mendoza, Argentina

Welcome to Mendoza, Argentina (760m)
Airport reception and transfer to your hotel
Meet with our experienced guide for a comprehensive briefing on the upcoming expedition
Explore local attractions and prepare for the adventure ahead
Overnight stay at a hotel in Mendoza

 

Day 02Transfer to Penitentes

  • Departure from Mendoza for a picturesque 3-hour drive to Penitentes (2580m)
  • Arrive in Penitentes, a charming mountain village nestled in the Andes
  • Enjoy a scenic acclimatization hike in the surrounding area
  • Rest and relax at the lodge
  • Overnight stay at a lodge in Penitentes

Day 03 - 05Trek to Base camp

  • Early morning transfer to Horcones Valley trailhead
  • Begin the trek towards Confluencia (3390m), our first campsite
  • Acclimatization hike to 4050m and return to Confluencia on the following day
  • Continue the journey to Plaza de Mulas (4350m), our base camp
  • Experience the stunning beauty of the Andean landscape along the way
  • Overnight stays at Confluencia and Plaza de Mulas campsites

Day 06 - 08Rest & Load ferry to camp 1

  • Take a well-deserved rest day at Plaza de Mulas to recuperate and prepare for the ascent
  • Embark on an acclimatization hike to Cerro Bonete (5004m) to further prepare for the climb
  • Gear up and carry supplies to Plaza Canadá (5050m), our first high camp
  • Return to Plaza de Mulas for overnight accommodation

Day 09Rest day

  • Enjoy a leisurely day of rest and relaxation at Plaza de Mulas
  • Engage in light activities, socialize with fellow climbers, and savor the breathtaking mountain views
  • Prepare mentally and physically for the challenges ahead
  • Overnight stay at Plaza de Mulas

Day 10Move to Camp 2

  • Depart Plaza de Mulas and ascend to Plaza Canadá (5050m), our second high camp
  • Take in the awe-inspiring vistas of the Andean landscape as you trek towards higher altitudes
  • Settle in at Plaza Canadá and prepare for the next phase of the climb
  • Overnight stay at Plaza Canadá campsite

Day 11Climb to Camp 3

  • Rise early and embark on the ascent from Plaza Canadá to Nido de Cóndores (5560m)
  • Navigate challenging terrain and overcome physical obstacles as you ascend to higher elevations
  • Arrive at Nido de Cóndores and rest before the final push to the summit
  • Overnight stay at Nido de Cóndores campsite

Day 12Climb to Camp 04

  • Continue the ascent from Nido de Cóndores to Cólera (5970m), our fourth and final high camp
  • Navigate steep slopes and icy terrain as you inch closer to the summit
  • Arrive at Cólera and prepare for the ultimate challenge ahead
  • Overnight stay at Cólera campsite

Day 13Summit Day

  • Begin the summit push in the early hours of the morning under starlit skies
  • Ascend the final stretch to the summit of Mount Aconcagua (6962m) with determination and perseverance
  • Reach the summit and revel in the breathtaking panoramic views of the Andes and beyond
  • Celebrate your achievement before beginning the descent
  • Overnight stay at Cólera campsite or continue descent if feasible

Day 14-16Reserve Days & return

  • Allow for flexibility with reserve days in case of inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances
  • Descend from Camp 4 to Plaza de Mulas, retracing your steps through the majestic Andean landscape
  • Return to base camp and reflect on the incredible journey you’ve undertaken
  • Overnight stays at Plaza de Mulas campsite

Day 17Descend to Horcones and Drive to Hotel

  • Descend from Plaza de Mulas to Horcones Valley, savoring the final moments in the Andes
  • Arrive in Horcones Valley and embark on a scenic 3-4 hour drive back to Mendoza
  • Return to your hotel in Mendoza and enjoy a well-deserved rest
  • Overnight stay at a hotel in Mendoza

Day 18Departure

  • Bid farewell to Mendoza as you’re transferred to the airport for your onward journey
  • Depart with cherished memories and newfound experiences from your Mount Aconcagua expedition
