Day 1 Arrive in Mullodi village - Acclimatisation trek

Day 1: Unveiling the Gateway (Mullodi Village – Shankari Betta)

  • Morning: Arrive at Mullodi village, the charming base camp for your Kudremukh adventure. Nestled amidst verdant hills, Mullodi offers a glimpse into the local life of the tribe. Obtain necessary permits from the Forest Department to ensure a smooth trek.
  •  Embark on your journey, traversing lush green forests teeming with life. Keep an eye out for the Malabar Giant Squirrel, the largest squirrel species in India, playfully leaping between branches. Listen for the melodic calls of the Nilgiri Laughingthrush, a vibrant bird with a distinctive black crest. The air may be fragrant with the sweet aroma of the Malabar Kino tree, a native evergreen with beautiful red flowers.
  • Landmark: Shankari Betta, a towering peak offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, serves as your first checkpoint. Take a moment to soak in the beauty of the Western Ghats before continuing your ascent.

Day 2Ascending to the Peak (Shankari Betta - Kudremukh National Park)

  • Morning: After a hearty breakfast, fuel up for a challenging yet rewarding day. As you ascend through dense shola forests, spot unique flora like the Indian Laurel with its glossy green leaves and vibrant red berries. Be on the lookout for shy barking deer camouflaged amongst the undergrowth, or listen for the calls of the elusive Malabar Grey Hornbill.
  • Landmark: Enter Kudremukh National Park, a treasure trove of biodiversity. Here, diverse ecosystems flourish, from verdant grasslands to cascading waterfalls. Keep your camera ready to capture the breathtaking scenery.
  •  The terrain becomes steeper, offering challenging yet rewarding climbs. As you conquer each ascent, the air thins, and the views become even more spectacular. Breathe in the fresh mountain air and revel in the sense of accomplishment.
