The Gibb River Road, an iconic outback track, weaves through this wilderness, offering access to some of the most spectacular natural attractions in the region.

The traditional custodians of this land, the Bunuba, Gooniyandi, and other indigenous groups, have a deep connection to the land that stretches back tens of thousands of years. Day 1: Broome to Windjana Gorge
Your adventure begins in Broome, where you’ll set off into the wilds of the Kimberley. Journey along the Gibb River Road and arrive at Windjana Gorge, a breathtaking chasm carved by the Lennard River. The towering limestone walls of the gorge are home to freshwater crocodiles, birdlife, and ancient fossils, making this a perfect introduction to the Kimberley’s natural wonders.
Accommodation: Camp under the stars.
Day 2: Galvans Gorge to Mt Barnett Station
On day two, continue your exploration with a visit to Galvans Gorge, a secluded spot perfect for a refreshing swim. The family will enjoy splashing in the clear waters surrounded by ancient rock art and cascading waterfalls. In the afternoon, travel to Mt Barnett Station, your base for the night.
Accommodation: Camp at Mt Barnett Station.
Day 3: Manning Gorge
Spend the day at Manning Gorge, known for its spectacular scenery and swimming holes. After a hike through the gorge, cool off in the inviting waters of the lower pool or take a boat ride further upstream to explore the upper gorge. The area’s rock art provides a fascinating glimpse into the indigenous heritage of the region.
Accommodation: Camp at Mt Barnett Station.
Day 4: Adcock Gorge to Silent Grove
Visit Adcock Gorge, another hidden gem of the Kimberley, where you can relax by the water’s edge or take a dip in the cool, clear waters. Later, travel through the Wunaamin Miliwundi Ranges, a stunning landscape of rolling hills and rocky outcrops, before arriving at Silent Grove for your final night of camping.

Day 5: Silent Grove to Broome
On the final day, journey back along the Gibb River Road towards Derby, where you’ll stop at Norval Art Gallery. Here, the family can admire the work of local First Nations artists, who capture the essence of the Kimberley’s wilderness and its legends through their stunning artwork. There may even be a chance for the kids to create their own piece of art. Continue the drive to Broome, arriving in the late afternoon to conclude your incredible Kimberley adventure.
